Dublin Zoo

Childhood dreams realised

Contrary to popular belief, zoos are the biggest contributors to nature conservation worldwide - a cause very close to my heart. So translating the scientific and lesser-known stories of Dublin Zoo into fun, fact-packed and digestible content was something that brought me immense satisfaction. From crafting radio ads to creating Insta stories to writing the 120-page website, my two years of storytelling there were about as unforgettable as they come.

Bringing the zoo online

Dublin Zoo’s web and social presence wasn’t doing it does justice. I wanted to change this so I managed the overhaul of their website and wrote the 120-page site; including a fact-packed page for each species in their care.

Boots-on-the-ground socials

I also took advantage of being on-site every day (pre-COVID life, eh?) and took to the grounds to broadcast live content, capture quippy stories and engage with social media followers to grow their audience. I think it worked. Our Insta following doubled in the two years I worked there.

The bigger picture

Sure, it’s nice to bring your kids to see the animals. Sure, it’s fun to learn about them. But what’s the bigger picture? Check out an article I wrote on palm oil and the conservation section of the website.

David Jackson, The Friday Agency

“I had the pleasure of working very closely with Aoibheann on the new Dublin Zoo website. She is a true collaborator, approaching everything with an open mind, not just wanting to meet the requirements of Dublin Zoo but primarily the end user.

The results are clear from the dramatic increase in ticket sales, user engagement, rich dynamic content and a seamless user experience. I wish her the best of luck in the future and hope we cross paths again.”
